WADA invites athletes to participate in consultation process regarding World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards Update
Deadline to submit feedback: 30 May 2025
Dear athletes,
We are pleased to invite you to participate in our consultation process aimed at ensuring WADA continues to build a fair and harmonized anti-doping program for you.
The World Anti-Doping Program is comprised of a set of documents – the World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and several International Standards – that harmonizes anti-doping policies, rules and regulations. It is the anti-doping framework within which athletes must operate. Since the first Code was adopted in 2003, it has been revised every six years to ensure it remains fit for purpose and agile to the changing nature of anti-doping. We are currently in the process of reviewing the 2021 Code and related International Standards. Since the process began in 2023, proposed changes have been circulated to stakeholders followed by consultation phases to receive stakeholder feedback. We are now in the last consultation phase before these documents are finalized and adopted during the World Conference in December 2025 and they enter into effect on 1 January 2027. While WADA receives a lot of feedback from Anti-Doping Organizations, athlete feedback has been limited. We want to change that by conducting an Athlete-Centered Consultation!
Your unique insights and experiences as athletes are invaluable to us! We believe that your input can play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Code and the International Standards, and of additional supporting documentation such as guidelines and other resources. By sharing your perspectives, you will help us create a World Anti-Doping Program that better reflects your realities and supports your needs.
We invite you to provide feedback via the Athlete-Centered Consultation (available in English and French) where you can comment on certain areas or proposed changes of the 2nd drafts of the 2027 Code and International Standards by answering athlete-centered questions. Note: to switch between languages, simply click the drop-down arrow in the top right-hand corner of the consultation and select the language you prefer.
The aim of the Athlete-Centered Consultation, which was developed in collaboration with WADA’s Athlete Council, is to highlight topics that may be particularly important to you as an athlete. All questions are optional and while we welcome your feedback on all the areas/questions identified here, you can choose which ones you want to answer and leave others blank. We have also included a few broader questions related to anti-doping if you don’t have particular views on the specific changes or more ‘legal’ articles. You choose! In the end, any and all feedback is extremely valuable to shaping the future of clean sport and will help the expert groups continue to focus on rules and processes that are athlete centered.
Please go to the Athlete-Centered Consultation now and provide your feedback by 30 May 2025.
Thank you - kind regards,
On behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency
Please note that the general stakeholder consultation on WADAConnect will also remain open until 30 May 2025.
