Pre-games anti-doping activities for Beijing 2022 Olympic Games

PRE-GAMES ANTI-DOPING ACTIVITIES FOR BEIJING 2022 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Montreal, 18 March 2021

Dear Colleagues,
[National Anti-Doping Organizations, Regional Anti-Doping Organizations and International Olympic Winter Sports Federations on the program of the Beijing 2022 XXIV Olympic Winter Games]

As you know, the period leading up to an Olympic Games (Pre-Games) is a critical risk timeframe for anti-doping programs, which can have a significant impact on the credibility of Olympic competitions and the protection of athletes competing at the Games.

In preparation for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to provide a co-signed letter – on behalf of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Testing Agency (ITA) and WADA – that outlines the Pre-Games’ anti-doping activities that will take place, which require coordinated efforts in the lead-up to the event. The objective is to ensure that participating athletes have been subject to a proportionate testing program before reaching Beijing in February 2022.

We would kindly ask you to review the letter; and, should you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the ITA at beijing2022_pregames@ita.sport.

WADA, the IOC and the ITA look forward to your active participation and support, which will be key to protecting athletes and the integrity of sport.

Thank you and best regards,

World Anti-Doping Agency
